While the Isuzu D-MAX may seem a little agricultural when compared to some of its competitors, the tough no-nonsense newcomer to the commercial ute market has experienced solid sales growth since its Australian release last October.

Isuzu Ute Australia, the official importer of the D-MAX, today announced that sales for March topped 248, a 47 percent rise over the previous month's figures.

Isuzu's dealer network has also undergone a similarly rapid expansion, with 61 dealers now signed up to sell the D-MAX - a good jump up from the 38 dealers that were on board at the car's launch.

“Somewhat symbolically, our 61st dealer signing was in Alice Springs, plugging the centre of the continent now well serviced in all states and territories, said IUA managing director, Hitoshi Kono (below).

Kono also attributed the D-MAX's increasing success to the already strong reputation of the Isuzu brand in Australia.

“Prospective new dealers were keen to sign into the Isuzu UTE network because they already had great respect for the reputation of the Isuzu brand in the truck world," said Mr. Kono.

The most popular models so far have been the high-spec crew cab utes, both the 4x4 LSU and the 4x2 LS. Prices for the D-Max range start at $24,600 AUD and stretch to $43,800.
