Gold Coast SuperGP Organisers Call For Volunteers

Gold Coast Super GP organisers have issued a rallying call to motorsport fans in a bid to secure volunteers ahead of October’s event, which is set to feature the A1GP series for the first time.

The failure to reach an agreement with IndyCar organisers placed the future of the Surfers street race in serious jeopardy late last year, with the Queensland Government canvassing a number of international categories to keep the event alive.

Germany’s DTM series was touted as a potential successor to the American open-wheel category before a deal was secured for A1GP to return to Australian shores.

Featuring a field of identical A1GP ‘Powered by Ferrari’ cars, based on the Italian manufacturer‘s record breaking F2004, the series is touted as the World Cup of Motorsport, pitting nations against each other in a season-long battle for supremacy.

Nitro SuperGP Ticketing and Accreditation Manager Jayne Graham said the event provides potential volunteers with a stunning chance to be trackside and witness motor racing at its best.

“I am happy to say that applications to join the 2009 Nitro SuperGP Volunteer Team are now open and we have a wide range of positions available,” Ms Graham said.
