CHRYSLER AUSTRALIA has announced a number of minor changes for the 2010 Dodge Journey, which bump up safety and passenger comfort.

Tinted glass is now standard and helps reduce cabin temperatures, while audio controls have been added to the leather-wrapped steering wheel. Active front headrests are new for 2010 and reduce the severity of whiplash in a collision.

The Journey range is still powered by the same 2.7 litre V6 petrol and 2.0 litre turbodiesel engines as last year's model, with the V6s hooked up to a six-speed automatic and the diesel to a six-speed dual-clutch auto. The V6 produces 136kW and 256Nm, while the 2.0 turbodiesel four puts out 103kW and 310Nm.

Fuel consumption for the petrol V6 is listed at 10.3 l/100km, with the diesel using 6.7 l/100km on the combined cycle - a slight improvement on the previous figure of 7.0 l/100km.

Standard safety equipment includes stability control, traction control and ABS with Brake Assist. In the event of a crash, dual front airbags, front-side airbags and curtain airbags help protect the occupants.

The Journey is available with a seven-seat option, which brings integrated booster seats that fold out of the second row seat squab. Other options include satellite navigation, a multimedia entertainment system with 30GB hard drive, iPod integration and a fold-down DVD screen for the rear passengers.
