Good news! Dacia has revealed its production-spec Duster and it looks like much of the wicked styling of the Duster Concept vehicle has carried over.

While we had no doubt the production model would be less... um, mad... than the concept, we're pleased to see the swooping lines and squat profile made the transition from concept to reality. Some might not be so sure about the unusual 'squashed' C-pillar though.

Although cool on the concept, we didn't expect the suicide doors or gigantic alloy wheels to survive, and yes, they're missing in action.

To give you an idea of size, the Dacia Duster is based on the underpinnings of Nissan's X-Trail SUV, with engine options so far limited to one petrol and one diesel mill.

A 1.5 litre dCi engine will represent for the diesel lovers and will produce around 78kW (105hp), while a 1.6 litre petrol engine will be available in 67kW (90hp) and 78kW (105hp) flavours.

We still need to wait for the Geneva Motor Show next March before the official unveiling to the public, but we'd expect further information to trickle out of Dacia until then.

Unless of course this is just some giant April Fools prank by Auto Express.
