BMW has given its Australian X1 range a boost today with the addition of two new petrol models, along with the option of BMW's rear-wheel-drive sDrive models.
The new sDrive18i joins the line-up as the new entry-level X1, while the xDrive25i enters at the upper end of the range.
The existing four-cylinder turbodiesel-powered X1 20d can also now be had in both xDrive four-wheel-drive or sDrive rear-wheel-drive.
As the entry-level powertrain, the sDrive 18i’s four-pot is also the least powerful. The 2.0 four-cylinder petrol engine litre engine produces 110kW and 200Nm, while the xDrive 25i’s six-cylinder 3.0 litre petrol engine developers 160kW and 277Nm.
The sDrive18i will cover the 0-100km/h sprint in a respectable 9.7 seconds, with fuel consumption listed at 8.2 l/100km. The xDrive25i hurls to 100km/h in a spritely 7.9 seconds.
The BMW X1 sDrive18i is available with manual transmission as standard and automatic transmission as an option.
The BMW X1 xDrive25i is fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard.
The rear-wheel-drive sDrive20d delivers the same 130kW and 350Nm of torque as its xDrive20d sibling, making its way 100km/h in 8.1 seconds (0.3 seconds quicker than the xDrive20d). Fuel consumption is listed 5.3 litres/100 km.
