Following today's announcement by Ford Australia that up to 350 jobs will be lost as they wind back production of the Falcon and Territory, comes the shock announcement that Executive Vice President Bill Osborne is leaving.

Ford released a statement today confirming that Bill Osborne has elected to leave the company, effective September. Mr Osborne will be heading back to the States where it is said, he plans to take up a position outside the automotive industry.

"Bill has made significant contributions during his career with Ford Motor Company, and we wish him and his family all the best with his future endeavour," said Parker.

"Ford Australia will continue to play a vital role in the future success of Ford Motor Company and within the Asia Pacific and Africa region, with greater input and alignment across all areas of the business, particularly product development, information technology, purchasing and marketing and sales," added Parker.

Mr Osborne took over the top job from Tom Gorman barely eight months ago, and has overseen the recent deal that will see Ford Australia begin local production of the Focus in 2011. He was also at the helm for the unveiling of the FG Falcon.

Mr Osborne's replacement will be announced in due course.
