AUSTRALIA IS TO GET a Concours d'Elegance - Concours d'Elegance Australia - inspired by the famous Pebble Beach Concours in California.

To be held at St Patrick's Estate in Sydney, the inaugural Concours d'Elegance Australia is expected to host over 200 classic and prestige vehicles. According to the event's organisers, the total value of vehicles on display will top $100 million.

While its Pebble Beach counterpart is often used to launch and display new models in the luxury market, Concours d'Elegance Australia will focus on the classic vehicles owned by Australian enthusiasts.

Driven by repairer and restorer Sam Movizio, it is hoped that the local event will eventually gain the same international recognition as the shows at Pebble Beach, Amelia Island and Ville d'Este.

The term 'Concours d'Elegance' means "Competition of Excellence". The Australian Concours will allow owners to have their cars judged and awarded in a number of fields, including rarity, originality, authenticity, historical significance and visual impession.

The event will be held on October 10. More details can be found at www.concoursdeleganceaustralia.com.
