Audi seems set to add to its range of powered-up SUV models with the Q2 compact, as the new model is about to undergo the Audi RS treatment.

Sitting below the RS Q3, the RS Q2 - according to reports out of Europe - will pack a 300 BHP (224kW) punch from a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.

This would mean a 26kW deficit to the more powerful and presumably more expensive RS Q3, which uses a 2.5 litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine.

France’s Automobile Magazine claims the RS Q2 will, naturally, boast Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system, matched with an S-tronic automatic transmission.

The RS will also step-up the aggressive styling, which is already a step away from the Audi SUV norm in some respects on the Q2 as the carmaker looks to attract younger buyers.
