Aston Martin's polarising 2009 Lagonda Concept is set for production after all, despite reports last month that the British supercar company had decided to drop its SUV plans in favour of a Rapide-based luxury sedan.

Speaking at a conference in the Netherlands this week, Aston CEO Ulrich Bez confirmed the Lagonda SUV's production future, describing the behemoth as "almost complete".

He added that official details are expected to be revealed before the year is out.

Bez pointed to the demand for SUV-type vehicles in the Russian, Chinese and Middle Eastern markets as the driving force behind the company's Lagonda plans.

It's unclear what platform Aston will use for the Lagonda SUV, although it's likely that the Mercedes-Benz GL-based underpinnings of the concept will be utilised for the production model.
