The news that Toyota has been working on an expanded Prius line-up has been doing the rounds for some time. Earlier this month, Toyota offered a sneaky first look at its hybrid family plans.

Shown in a post on Toyota's Facebook page, the first of the new Prius models was partly revealed, hidden behind the smaller 2010 Toyota Prius.

Accompanied by the slogan "The Prius family is getting a whole lot bigger," the advertisement reveals that the new model will be an MPV. Toyota has yet to reveal technical details for the new model, but reports out of the US suggest it will be known as the Prius V.

Today, a new teaser image offers a glimpse of the hybrid's interior (top of article), revealing the centre stack of the new Prius model's dash.

While the Prius V will feature the Prius' hybrid technology, it's unclear if it will be combined with the same 1.8 litre petrol engine or a larger engine.

Roughly the same size as the Mazda5 (the Japanese-market version of the now absent-from-Australia Mazda Premacy), the Prius V is expected to offer three rows of seating for seven occupants. It will reportedly offer 50 percent greater storage space than the smaller 2010 Prius.

According to US industry paper Automotive News, the Prius V was revealed to Toyota dealers in the US earlier this month, alongside an entry-level hybrid dubbed Prius C, sized even smaller than the current Prius.
