2011 Volkswagen Eos Update Announced With Golf GTI Engine

Volkswagen Australia has today announced availability of the 2011 Eos. Along with a number of interior and equipment updates, the updated Eos now features the Golf GTI's 2.0 litre four-cylinder TSI petrol engine, replacing the previous range-topping 147TSI.

Producing 155kW and 280Nm of torque, the 2.0 litre turbocharged engine propels the 1360kg Golf GTI to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds. In the heavier 2011 Eos 155TSI, weighing in at around 1580kg, the 0-100km/h sprint is covered in a very respectable 7.8 seconds.

As with the GTI, the Eos 155TSI is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or with Volkswagen's six-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Fuel consumption for the manual Eos 155TSI is listed at 7.4 l/100km, while the DSG-equipped EOS 155TSI lists 7.9 l/100km.

The current 103TDI diesel engine remains in the Eos line-up, and like the range-topping 155TSI, the diesel Eos is available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Other updates for the 2011 Eos include 'Vienna' leather upholstery as standard, along with heated front seats, new 17-inch alloy wheels and new exterior colours with a modestly updated grille and 'cherry red' taillights.

Every manual Eos now also comes with standard Hill Start Assist (HSA), which holds the vehicle when the foot brake is released by temporarily locking the brake pressure (for a maximum of 1.5 seconds) to provide comfortable starting-off without rolling back. Hill Start Assist (HSA) operates on inclines greater than 5%.

Pricing and Availability

The 2011 Eos range is available now. Pricing remains unchanged with prices from $46,990 for the Eos 103TDI and $48,990 for the Eos 155TSI.
