NEARLY SIX months after it was first revealed as the Japanese-market RVR, Mitsubishi Australia has confirmed the 2011 Mitsubishi ASX will get an Australian launch in August.
“The ASX is primarily a city car - very stylish and manoeuvrable around town - and the adoption of the European brand name reflects this," Mitsubishi Australia CEO Masahiko Takahashi said today.
“But ASX is more than just a pretty face. It also has the added benefit of being very smart, especially in terms of the technology that drives its engineering, design and all-wheel drive ability.”
Although Mitsubishi has at last confirmed a local name for the compact crossover, it is unclear at this stage exactly what specifications and powertrains the ASX will be offered with.
In Japan, the RVR is powered by a 1.8 litre petrol engine, paired with Mitsubishi's CVT automatic transmission. The European-market ASX is also offered with a 1.8 litre direct-injected turbo-charged diesel engine and a six-speed manual transmission.
