Without even a shred of camouflage, MINI's upcoming 2011 Countryman S Diesel has been spied testing in Europe this week, suggesting its international launch may be only weeks away.

These images follow photos obtained in September of an unfettered 'Cooper SD' diesel spied in the UK. While official details are thin on the ground, both models are likely to be powered by a more highly-tuned version of MINI's 80kW 1.6 litre turbodiesel engine.

As with the Cooper SD, the Countryman SD is styled almost identically to the regular petrol-engined S variant, with only the SD badges setting it apart.

MINI's foray into diesel-engined S models follows a similar move by  Volkswagen for its GTI-inspired GTD diesel 'hot hatch,' producing 125kW and 350Nm of torque.

The hi-po diesel will join the two diesel models currently available in Europe, the 66kW MINI One D Countryman and the 82kW MINI Cooper D Countryman.
