AUDI HAS FOLLOWED the unveiling of the 2011 Audi A1 premium light car last month with images and details of the new model's S-Line accessories.

Designed by Audi's quattro GmbH division, a number of cosmetic updates will accompany the S-Line packages and, while handling upgrades are on offer, no power upgrades are planned.

The S Line gear is available in two flavours; S-Line Exterior and S-Line Sport Package.

With a revised front bumper, a faux diffuser at the rear, skirts and a larger roof-mounted spoiler, the S Line Exterior package brings a sportier look to the diminutive hatch.

The S-Line Sport Package adds 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and adjustable sports suspension, while the interior gains a new leather-wrapped steering wheel and sports seats.

The 2011 Audi A1 is powered by a range of direct-injected turbo-charged petrol and diesel engines, the range-topping 1.4 TSI engine producing 90kW and 200Nm of torque.

A six-speed manual transmission is also available with the 1.4 TSI, getting the A1 from zero to 100km/h in 9.2 seconds.

Those with the need for speed will need to wait for the Audi S1, which British magazine Autocar claims will arrive in 2012, packing a 1.4 litre turbo-charged engine producing 132kW and the seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission.
