WHILE OPEL'S enticing Insignia OPC doesn't look like it'll be coming Australia's way, our compatriots in the UK will at least be able to enjoy the Opel's twin-turbocharged AWD thrills in the form of the Vauxhall Insignia VXR.

The Insignia VXR will go on sale in the United Kingdom soon, however Vauxhall plans to introduce the fire-breathing sports sedan to its new market at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, giving prospective buyers and performance car fans alike a sneak peek at the all-new car.

The 2010 Vauxhall Insignia VXR will be on display in the Supercar Paddock at Goodwood, emerging twice a day to complete demonstration runs up Goodwood's challenging 'driveway'.

With 240kW on tap from its twin-turbo 2.8 litre (Aussie-sourced) V6 engine and a trick torque-apportioning rear differential shuffling drive between the rear wheels, the all-wheel-drive Insignia VXR should be an impressive sight at Goodwood.

Appearing alongside the Insignia will be the Aussie-built supercharged VXR8 Bathurst Edition S (a burnout display in front of Goodwood House is rumoured) and two Vauxhall concepts; the 1966 XVR and the 1970 SRV.

The Vauxhall Insignia VXR and Insignia VXR Sports Tourer will launch not long after its appearance at Goodwood, so if you're keen to see it in the metal before it hits the showrooms and happen to be around the historic race venue between July 3 - 5, do yourself a favour and check it out.
