WHILE THE THIRD generation Renault Megane is still some months away from a local debut, Renault has followed yesterday's covered teaser image with a new shot of the upcoming Megane CC convertible.

Where the first teaser image offered little more than a hint of the convertible's profile, this new image offers the most revealing glimpse yet at the Megane CC's finer details.

Prior to this week's pair of teaser images, the below spy photos were the only look we'd had at Renault's latest offering.

Heavy cladding obscures most of the Megane CC’s finer details, although basic styling - at least up front - will likely draw from the Megane Coupe.

Like the current model, and featured on the Megane Coupe, a panoramic glass window is visible in the top of the folding hard-top.

Engine options are likely to mirror those of the regular Megane. This will include five petrol motors and four diesels, with power ranging from 63kW to 134kW and a five or six-speed manual or auto option.

The Megane CC is expected to debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.

The new Megane’s arrival in Australia is unclear at this stage. Speaking with TMR recently, Renault Australia Managing Director, Rudi Koenig confirmed that the French carmaker is looking to offer the Megane Coupe in Australia in July, with the convertible to follow in the fourth quarter.

Around the same time as the Megane CC is due to land, Renault Australia expects to announce the arrival of the Megane Renaultsport (RS), powered by a 184kW turbo-charged 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
