MERCEDES-BENZ has announced a number of 'value enhancement' accessories and updates for the 2010 GL-Class, with new standard equipment for the GL 350 CDI, GL 350 CDI Luxury and GL 500.

While lowered import tariffs have seen Mercedes-Benz passing savings on to buyers in the form of greater standard equipment offerings, the GL-Class is exempt from import duties.

"Even though the GL-Class is import duty-exempt we have still included it in our ongoing value strategy for our customers," Managing Director Horst von Sanden said.

"Critically, the equipment enhancements chosen to become new standard features are the most popular optional extras; this ensures customers receive specific equipment they actually want. "

The 3.0 litre V6 turbo-diesel GL 350 CDI gains a new rear bumper with partially integrated tailpipes, along with LED tail lights. Other exterior updates include 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and chrome-look roof rails.

Inside, new standard features include a multi-function steering wheel with Nappa leather, Comand APS HDD navigation system and a reversing camera.

In addition to the above updates, the GL 350 CDI Luxury adds bi-xenon headlights with Intelligent Light System and Active Light System, along with LED daytime running lights.

Ambient lighting beneath the dashboard trim and door cards, new anthracite poplar wood trim with chrome highlights, dark tinted glass in rear windows, and 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels also figure among the updates.

The 5.5 litre V8 petrol GL 500 gets all of the above updates and adds Keyless-Go automatic lock/unlock and drive authorisation system, with Distronic autonomous intelligent cruise control.

A TV tuner with analogue and digital reception features in the multi-function display. Neck-Pro luxury head restrains are fitted to the seats, and 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels with flared wheel arches feature at each corner.

Direct-steering replaces the speed-sensitive power-steering system across the GL-Class range.
