REVEALING A FACE more in line with the carmaker's passenger vehicle range, Mazda Australia has announced today that the updated 2010 Mazda6 will arrive this Autumn.

Set to make its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the 2010 Mazda6 boasts a number of exterior tweaks and mechanical changes to bring it up to date with newer Mazda offerings.

In Australia, the Mazda6's existing 2.5 litre petrol engine and 2.2 litre turbodiesel - shared with the Mazda3 diesel - carry over to the 2010 range.

The 2.5 litre in-line four-cylinder petrol engine develops 125kW and 226Nm, while the 2.2 litre common-rail in-line four-cylinder turbodiesel puts 136kW and 400Nm of torque under the toe.

The 2010 Mazda6 range is joined by an all-new Touring specification for the wagon bodystyle, featuring leather trim.

Broader technical details have yet to be revealed, but Mazda in Japan says the updated 6 benefits from improved power steering and suspension settings for greater comfort and stability at higher speeds.

On the styling front, the 2010 Mazda6 gets a front bumper styled more in-line with the 'smiling' family face of its siblings. A pair of new colours have been added to the model's palette; a metallic blue and a new bronze hue.

Mazda Australia has not announced pricing or exact dates as yet, but more information is likely to follow the Geneva Motor Show.
