Ford performance arm FPV has today announced its updated 2010 F6 range is now compliant with Euro IV emissions standards.

As with the 'regular' range of naturally-aspirated and turbo-charged I6-powered Falcons, the FPV F6 benefits from a new catalytic converter and an upgraded Powertrain Control Module.

Software updates to the PCM include optimised cold-start, warm-up and hot idle calibration, revised pedal progression for a more linear launch, optimised upshift and gear selection and enhancements to the Deceleration Fuel Shut-Off for improved fuel economy in city driving.

As with Ford's Falcon XR8, the V8-powered FPV range is not included in the Euro IV upgrade, although Ford Australia confirmed earlier this year that the US-developed 'Coyote' V8 will make its Ford and FPV debut later this year.

"This update is just a forerunner, of course … we also have a very exciting new range of V8 models coming later in the year," FPV General Manager Rod Barrett said today.

In its naturally-aspirated form, the 'Coyote' 5.0 litre engine produces 307kW and 529Nm of torque, bettering the 290kW/520Nm of the current XR8.

Along with the emissions updates, FPV has added new branding features to the F6 range, with FPV badges now feature on the steering wheel, dashboard and key fob. There is also a redesigned build badge for each model. Alpine Silver multi-spoke wheels are now also standard on the F6 E model.

Images of these updates are not yet available.

Pricing

Pricing for the F6 range, which includes the F6, F6 E and F6 Ute, remains unchanged.

"FPV's models are constantly evolving, we are always striving to give our cars a unique personality and a presence that we know appeals to our buyers," Mr Barrett said.

"The compliance with EuroIV has given us the opportunity to introduce these running changes, without affecting cost to our customers."
