FERRARI REVEALED the successor to the venerable F430 overnight in the form of the 2010 Ferrari F458 Italia. This car marks the return by the Italian supercar company to its former practice of using engine capacity and number of cylinders to identify the model.

Motivated by a 4.5 litre V8 developing 425kW and 540Nm of torque, Ferrari says the F458 will power its way to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds, on to a top speed of over 325km/h.

Edward Rowe, Public Affairs Manager for Ateco Automotive - Australian distributors for Ferrari - confirmed to TMR today that the F458 is definitely coming to Australia, arriving around the middle of next year.

"The F458 will arrive in Australia in the middle of 2010, with prices starting in excess of $500,000 (excluding on road costs and delivery)," Mr Rowe said.

Mr Rowe confirmed that orders have been accepted for the all-new Ferrari, and while he remained tight-lipped on specific figures, Mr Rowe said the number of well-heeled enthusiasts reaching for the cheque book is "well into double figures."

The F458 will be officially unveiled in public at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September, before hitting the European market in early 2010 and making its way to Australia not long after.
