THE 2010 BRISBANE MOTOR SHOW is on track for its June opening, organiser Expertise Events has announced today.

Originally scheduled for a February opening after the global financial crisis caused organisers to skip the 2009 calendar, this year's event will mark Brisbane's first motor show in 18 months.

Gary Fitz-roy, Managing Director of Expertise Events said that while one of the event's major attractions will be its focus on entertainment, the majority of car brands will be represented. Among others, manufacturers confirmed for the event include represented including Ford, Holden, Kia, Proton, Land Rover, Ssangyong, Great Wall, Isuzu UTE, Peugeot and Lotus. Other carmakers are understood to be "locking in" space at the event in the coming weeks.

"Given that this event is the first motor event for the year and the only state based show, it is important that Queenslanders demonstrate their support," Mr Fitz-Roy said.

"We will have simulator V8s, real V8s, Australias longest in-door road train and cars from the Mad Max movie. There will be a feature that demonstrates how much of an ineffective driver you are when you've been drinking as well as remote control car racing and a fantastic sound off competition."

Insurer QBE has been announced this week as one of the event's major sponsors.

As a company with its origins in Queensland, there are some great synergies between QBE and the Brisbane Motor Show", Brad Sinnatamby, General Manager Direct Distribution for QBE Australia said.

"It's an important event for Queenslanders and one that QBE is proud to support. The Show is a very natural fit for us and we re delighted to see it return to Brisbane in 2010."

The 2010 Brisbane Motor Show will run from June 2 to June 6 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. More information and ticket details can be found at www.themotorshow.com.au.
