Suzuki has announced the Australian release of its all-new, 2009 model QuadSport Z400 - its class-leading all-round sports ATV.

Featuring an all-new fuel-injected engine, with a race-proven fuel-injection system, 36mm throttle body and 12-hole injector, Suzuki says that riders will enjoy smoother and sharper throttle response, stronger high-end power, easier starting and improved fuel efficiency.

The new engine is a compact and lightweight 398cc, DOHC four-valver with revised cam profiling and timing, re-designed intake ports and a new internal muffler structure with a shorter exhaust header. The result is increased low-to-mid range torque and a linear power output.

"The original 2003 model Suzuki QuadSport Z400 rewrote the standards for sports ATV performance. Each following model has continued to lift the bar, and the 2009 QuadSport Z400 is no different, with the addition of fuel-injection and a host of other improvements creating a high-performance sports ATV that's also suitable for recreational riding in a variety of scenes." said Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia.

In addition to the new engine, the QuadSport Z400 has come in for a range of major upgrades, including aggressive new styling (inspired by the Suzuki QuadRacer R450, ridden by Dustin Wimmer), a re-designed frame and improved suspension. Aiding traction in all types of terrain is a 16-bit CPU Engine Control Unit (ECU).

Suzuki's Start-In-Gear feature ensures riders get underway with less fuss. Selecting reverse gear in the five-speed gearbox is made easier via a fender-mounted selector knob.

The Quadsport Z400's re-designed chassis is made from a lightweight, high-tensile, steel alloy, and incorporates a removable steel sub-frame and swingarm.

The fully adjustable suspension provides a range of options for preload, compression and rebound damping at the front and rear. The double-wishbone front suspension and piggyback-style reservoir shock absorbers deliver 215mm of wheel travel, while the linkage-type rear suspension and piggyback-style shock absorbers offer 230mm of rear wheel travel and 265mm of ground clearance.

The brakes now benefit from a new pad material, with the dual front disc brakes and a single disc rear brake provide plenty of stopping power. Even the brake lever position can be changed easily with a new QuadRacer R450-style adjustment mechanism.

Riding comfort has also been improved by repositioning the handlebars, mud guards and footrests, allowing riders to more easily shift their weight.

Backed by a 12-month warranty, the 2009 Suzuki QuadSport Z400 is now available in Australia for a RRP of $10,190*.
