It would seem that those leaked images we spotted last month were right on the money. The folks over at km77.com have once again trumped Mazda and released official images of the updated MX-5, a little earlier than expected.

Having seen the sketches last month, it is fair to say that the official images hold no real surprises. The Mazda designers have concentrated their efforts on the 'face' of the MX-5, with (as far as we can tell) the rest of the MX-5's exterior remaining largely unmolested. Obvious changes include a re-sculptured front bar, new headlights, fog-lights and surrounds, as well as a re-shaped air-dam and splitter.

While the casual observer would be hard-pressed to pick the changes, this mild aesthetic revision is enough to lift the look of Mazda's iconic two-seater convertible and help it through to 2012, when a more substantial overhaul is expected.

We would expect that the 'official' official images and a press release detailing the changes, will be issued by Mazda in the near future.
