The Mazda 2 is currently one of the best selling models in the Mazda lineup, with 1447 sales for the year as of late August (of a total 6508 for the brand), and no doubt plenty more since.

The Japanese market version of the Mazda 2, known as the Demio, has received a series of small, mostly aesthetic, updates to freshen it up for the 2009 season.

The interior sees a semi-gloss finish added to the centre panel.  The seat covers and door fittings are now available in matching trims: Calm White, Multi Black, and Sporty Black.  For a classier look, silver garnish has been applied to the inside door handles, park brake release button, and the air-conditioner dials, as well as to the shift knob on Automatic and CVT models.

An illuminated gear display has also been added to the transmission console for easier use during night driving.

Climate control air-conditioning and particle filter has been added to the top of the line Genki model.

A new colour has been added to the list for the exterior: a dark silver called Aluminium Metallic, bringing the total choice to twelve. A sports appearance package is also available, as pictured above in the new colour.

These updates should appear on the Aussie model in early 2009.
