We have to admit that the modern Cadillac is not what we would consider the cutting edge of automotive excellence or even mediocrity for that matter. The days of big fins and lots of cool are well and truly behind the Cadillac brand now. We came across the following spy shot of the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V while winding our way around the internet today. The car itself looks a bit naf as modern Cadillac’s do but it is not the styling that got us interested. Oh no…we liked what is rumoured to be under the bonnet bulge.

According to a number of sources the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will be powered by a new ‘LSA’ small block V8 that will feature a supercharger that will be integrated into the intake manifold. It is expected that the blown LSA small-block will be good for at least 372kW (500hp) and that is expected to be just the start.

The old axle-tramping rear end will be fully reworked so that it can deal with the enormous power of this BMW M5 challenger (in power levels at least). Brakes will continue to be the Brembos as used on the current CTS-V no doubt being upsized to deal with the extra mumbo but holding the fries.

The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V might be dog ugly but expect it to go like a cut cat.
