BMW's plucky 135i Coupe has built a reputation for itself as a bit of a giant-slayer, but when the circus that is Formula One rolls into Melbourne's Albert Park circuit the twin-turbocharged two-door won't be taking down any of its rivals.

Instead, BMW has entered a mildly tuned example into the Ultimate Speed Comparison demo, a race that will pit the 135i against a V8 supercar and a BMW Sauber F1 car.

An unfair comparison? Not quite. A one-lap race, the Ultimate Speed Comparison gives the 135i a hefty head start against the V8 supercar, which in turn gets to leave the grid well ahead of the F1 car.

Theoretically all cars have an equal chance of claiming the chequered flag, but these sorts of races really have one real purpose - highlighting the insane speed of a Formula One car.

This is no ordinary 135i though. A full aero kit, sports suspension, cross drilled brake rotors and lightweight 18-inch wheels give the 135i Coupe a slight boost in performance, while externally it'll look pretty damn similar to the Concept 1 series Tii.

The Ultimate Speed Comparison will take place five times over the Albert Park GP race weekend, starting with two demos on March 26 and ending with the final demo on March 29.
