It was only a few days ago that we reported on the new Nissan GT-R’s ‘unofficial’ hand-held stop-watch lap times at the Nurburgring. Suffice to say that the GT-R was looking mighty impressive with an estimated lap time in the 7:30's suggesting it was capable of hosing-off some very serious machinery – think Porsche 911 Turbo and GT2 to name but two.

Well, in the lead up to the new Godzilla’s launch at the Tokyo Motor Show the information flow is on the rise and the latest report from the spies at KGP (the world renowned spy photographers) suggest that Nissan engineers may have let the lap-time cat out of the bag by claiming on the sly that the GT-R will lap the ‘Ring in around 7:35…give or take.

With that sort of a lap time the GT-R well ahead of the Veyron (7:45), has trounced the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (7:38) and is hunting the new Porsche GT2 (7:32). When it comes to most output and performance figures for GT-R's Nissan are generally conservative - so we expect the real figure to be sub 7:35.

Is the new Nissan GT-R going to be the performance bargain of the century? We think so – stay tuned for more GT-R information as it comes to hand.
