TMR News and Features

mikeComing off the back of the uniquely positioned American automotive magazine Japanese Nostalgic Car where he served as Art Director, Mike has virtually no genuine automotive journalism experience to speak of.  Previously holding the post of Founder and Senior Editor of popular classic Japanese car blog GrandJDM.com before selling it for a squillion rupees to a Middle Eastern oil prince*, Mike’s professional writing experience has mostly been in Australian children’s magazines exploring what exactly it is that makes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles infinitely cooler than the Biker Mice from Mars.

As you’ll no doubt agree, he is ideally suited to writing for car enthusiasts.

Growing up in Australia with the requisite love for Holdens, Mike experienced something of an epiphany in his early 20s when he suddenly realised that perhaps Fords weren’t so bad after all.  The fact that his grandparents handed down their 1984 Falcon wagon to him when he couldn’t afford anything else certainly had nothing to do with it.  One week while out shopping for a new Fairmont, Mike stumbled across a ‘96 Toyota Supra—you’ll probably remember the shopping trolley handle bar on the back if nothing else—and so began his love for high-powered rear-wheel-drive chicanery.

*No such sale ever occurred, and Mike does not fund TMR’s extravagant lifestyle of moustaches and hawaiian shirts.
