Having thrown its unveiling punch at the Melbourne Motor Show earlier this year (the W427), HSV's Sydney stand was a little lower key than we are used to. However, the performance brand has some impressive metal to display nevertheless.

The W427 was once again on show, this time the production model (Melbourne featured a concept). As we all know by now, HSV is back in the wagon game with their version of Holden's new Sportwagon, dubbed the R8 Tourer.

It uses the same LS3 6.2-litre V8, with 317kW and550Nm, and is available with either a six-speed Tremec manual or six-speed auto gearbox. HSV points out that the R8 Tourer is one of the world’s most powerful wagons.

A manual ClubSport R8 Tourer is available priced from $65,990, ($1000 more than the equivalent ClubSport R8 sedan), while the auto is an additional $2330.

Full leather seats can be had for $2490, while a 20-inch wheel and tyre package is available for $2500. The Tourer has been available from dealers nationally for more than a month.

Also on display was the ‘40 years of GTS' liveried GTS for those who like stripes. The special edition GTS sports some cosmetic differentiation, with unique '40 years of GTS' monikered brake calipers, sill plate, rear panel and even headrests. Only 100 will be produced and they will be available in a choice of two colours only, Sting Red and Heron White.
