BMW 6-Series facelift

Now the cynical amongst us might ask what changes have been made to arrive at the new ‘facelifted’ 6 series Coupe and Cabriolet. The answer is you will need to read the press release by following the link at the close of this article, where you will be able to immerse yourself in the detail. Looks pretty much the same to us.

In summary, the bumpers have been restyled, fancy new LED indicators have been added and the rear lip spoiler has seen some subtle restyling as well.

On the inside, material quality has been improved and a couple of new electronic nannies have been added including Lane Departure Warning (in case you take a nap) and Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go function so that you have literally nothing left to do behind the wheel but take a nap.

Mechanically don’t expect much change in the petrol engine department. The main news is that a diesel option, the 635d is now available although we have yet to hear if it will be available in Australia. It uses BMW’s excellent 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight six that produces 213kw/580Nm and is good for 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds and will achieve on average 6.9 L/100km, which makes the petrol engine options all but irrelevant…doesn’t it?

So there you go. The more things change the more they appear to look the same…
