We’ve talked about the Lexus Prius rumours before, but it looks like it’s now good to go. Word this weekend is that Lexus has green-lit a Prius-based hybrid, though it’s expected to be built around the next-gen Prius rather than the ageing current model.

There will be an emphasis on performance – as one would expect from a Lexus – so despite being based on the Toyota Prius, Lexus’ hybrid will undoubtedly drop a little on the CO2 rating.  The new Prius will have CO2 emissions of 92g/km.

On top of that, Lexus is also working on a second dedicated hybrid, which will be entirely new.  There’s no specific details on this yet, but it’s known that it will be a larger vehicle.
