Maserati’s fastest-ever production model, the GranTurismo S—upon which the track-spec GranTurismo MC Corse is based—has landed in Sydney for its Australian debut at the Australian International Motor Show in October.
Leading up to the event, the GranTurismo S took in the sights of Sydney, showing off its twin-silencer exhaust system that offers the ability to trumpet the car’s presence to passers-by with the crackling note of Sport mode, and a quieter cruising mode for casual town driving.

The GranTurismo S, the new flagship of the Maserati range, is powered by a 4.7 litre 323kW V8 engine, with an electro-actuated MC Shift system. The S also has a transaxle layout, and dual-cast technology brakes.
The GranTurismo S powers to 100kmh in 4.9 seconds on its way to a maximum speed of 295kmh—the highest ever reached by a standard production Maserati.

What a hot car.
Still, I wish the council would let me park my car there for a few photographs!@
I think its funny how ‘Lord’ Harry Metcliff, founder and editor for EVO magazine, rushed out and bought the GranTurismo, and then Masser announced the GranTurismo S model a few weeks later.
He was obviously totally gutted, as the only gripe he had with the car was a lack of power for its weight. I can understand this from looking at the figures, the S version went part way to fixing this.
After a few months of ownership, he replaced it with the new Audi RS6, as if to say ‘up yours’ J The Audi RS6 seats the whole family in comfort, shares engine technology with Lambo and comes complete with sickbays.
