It’s finally official, the new Civic Type R has rolled onto the wharf and is safely on Australian soil. The Civic Type R is expected to find its way to dealers in time to officially go on sale in July.
You can read our initial article on the Honda Civic Type R including power and performance specs by clicking on the link. We can confirm that the Type R will feature dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, automatic rain-sensing windscreen wipers, auto on-off headlights and a CD-player with MP3 and WMA capabilities. A leather bound steering wheel and sports seats are included in the Type R experience.
On the safety front the Civic Type R includes Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), front, side and curtain airbags along with the usual Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) and emergency brake assist.
As previously reported, the Type R is manufactured in the UK at Honda’s manufacturing plant in Sunderland. Demand for the Civic Type R is such that making some available for the Australian market was touch-and-go but it’s now here and for that we are grateful.

It’s so disappointing that Honda Oz is not getting the more potent FD2 type-R. I can’t believe that True honda type-R fans will care much about this watered down type-R.

there is no such thing as a 2009 acura type r…lol…. they quit making the integra and started the type S rsx.. ha…
Well I have the new Civic Type R and I have to say that I think it’s awesome. I previously owned a VW GTI Golf (MK IV) and feel this car (believe it or not) is much more fun to drive and sticks to the road a hell of a lot better… also, every other car you see on the road these days is a golf in one guise or another… at least this has original styling and something more to offer than staid European design!
wow “weak honda”? do you know that you have the same motor in your acura? dumbass
AND thay dont even make an acura type r
