ShareThisI came across a little snippet on the ABC South West WA site today which sounded almost a little too sensible and a little too hard to believe.
It seems that South-west MP John Castrilli will be holding a number of forums with the Office of Road Safety in Bunbury later this week. The purpose of the forums is to examine the reasons behind the high road toll. The road toll for the area currently stands at 107.
The really interesting part of this story is that Mr Castrilli does not believe that Multanova cameras are the answer to reducing the road toll… In fact he wants to see high schools introduce compulsory driver training and education! Who is this man with the voice of reason in a sea of Australian political nincompoops?
I can’t imagine there being a Victorian politician who had either the balls or the brains to come up with a seemingly sensible approach to keeping the roads safer. Mr Castrilli should be applauded.
"I think it's a small price for us to pay as a community to try and assist our youth to get better equipped to handling those situations and get committed to better practices." said Mr Castrilli.
Finally a politician who puts lives ahead of revenue…
