Peugeot Unveils RC Hybrid Concept

Peugeot has been kind enough to release these teaser images and a press release on its upcoming RC Hybrid concept vehicle which, if all goes to plan, is expected to make an appearance at this year's Paris Motor Show. And what a looker it is: with smooth elegant lines, thrusting nose and prominent Lion badge, you have got to wonder why Peugeot wasn't doing this kind of thing a long time ago.

Though purely a concept at this stage, Peugeot explains that the RC will be an accessible and versatile car with seating for four and a balance between performance and emissions. A "potential" 230kWs is listed with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km in the combined cycle, or zero when in electric mode.

What grabs most is the styling. Peugeot aesthetics are not for everyone, but there's something about this concept that really appeals. What do you think?

The Peugeot 308 RC Z coupe, upon which this bodyshape is based, has already been approved for production.

Its a nice looking car. I'm not sure how much of a driver's car its going to be, but if its meant to be more boulevarde cruiser than corner carver than green credentials from a hybrid drivetrain would make the car even more attractive to people who want the snobbery of a Prius, but with good looks to match.

Now all of my complaining about hybrids being based in ugly shells may come to an end if this thing is released and resembles the concept above. I like it! Bring it on I say!

I quite like some of the Lexus (Lexii?) hybrids. I think the Civic Hybrid is not bad looking either, since it just looks like an understated Civic rather than an attention-seeking "environment saver".

Personally, I'm waiting for the Euros to release their diesel hybrids for ultra fuel economy. As a daily driver, the thought of a hybrid turbo-diesel Golf is making me a bit mushy inside.

I think it looks sleek and supercar-like and possibly inspired by the Audi R8 somewhat? It gets the thumbs up from me.

Excellent styling, looks like Peugeot have found their direction! Shame it won't be ready when I'll be car-hunting! But this would seem to be the benchmark hybrid vehicle with performance, style and fuel economy, they'll be on a winner I think :)

Peugeot may well become the new Dodge as far as turning concepts into production cars, first the 308 RC Z and hopefully this thing soon too. I'll hold off on a final verdict until proper pics are released but from the images provided it looks damn good. Finally a french manufacturer with a clue about how to style a car!
