Jaguar XFR to be Officially Unveiled at Detroit Auto Show

Jaguar has lately been moving ahead in leaps and bounds, finally grasping the concept behind its name. The Ian Callum penned XF sedan and the XK grand tourer have both lead the charge for the big cat, but now the hyped-up version of the XF, the XF-R, is set to join them.

Since it was first spotted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month, the XF-R has been a hot topic.  It now looks as though it is set to pounce on the motor show circuit at the Detroit Auto Show in January next year.

The BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 rival is expected to be powered by a supercharged 5.0 litre V8 producing over 370kW; the XF-R should cover the 0-100km/h sprint in less than 5 seconds.

To assist its hunt, the XF-R will receive a raft of aesthetic and handling upgrades, including flared wheel arches, lowered sports-tuned suspension, a vented bonnet, quad exhaust pipes, and larger ventilated brakes.

The front-end of the Jag in these pics are much better and more aggressive than the regular sedan - definitely a good thing.

The specs sound good too but it will need to be if it wants to compete against the likes of the Merc E63 AMG, BMW M5, Audi RS6 etc.
