If you were under the impression that the upcoming Genesis Coupe is the official successor to the Hyundai Tiburon, boy were you wrong.

Hyundai has announced that its replacement for the ageing Tiburon will be revealed at the 2009 Frankfurt Motorshow, and will have similar styling to the Veloster 2+2 concept Hyundai unveiled in Seoul in 2007, riding on the front-wheel-drive platform shared by the Hyundai i30 and the Kia Forte.

The word from Hyundai insiders is that the new Tiburon will be around the size of the last Toyota Celica, making it smaller than the upcoming Genesis Coupe, and that it will follow a shooting-brake style body.
