Not one of the world’s more headline-grabbing motor shows, the Indonesian Auto Show none-the-less gives some ‘outsider’ carmakers the chance to display their wares without being overwhelmed by the latest supercar or worldwide best-selling model.

One such carmaker is Daihatsu - whose days in Australia have tragically come to an end but a carmaker going from strength to strength in overseas markets.

For 2017, Daihatsu will debut the DN Multisix and the DN F-Sedan concepts in Indonesia, and the company has provided just one image of each ahead of the unveiling.

While finer details are scarce, the concepts show a change in direction for Daihatsu style-wise.

The DN F-Sedan takes on something of a four-door coupe shape, although more likely a sedan with a liftback rear end.

The DN Multisix is a compact SUV, with the six perhaps referring to six seats and unlikely to be a clue to the engine under the bonnet.

Some of the usual concept-style bling features on each, with razor-thin mirrors and tiny headlights not likely to make it to the production line.

But other features skip over the modern-day concept ‘rules’, with every chance the ride height, alloy wheels and even the grilles could feature on future production models - should they ever be built.

More will be revealed when Daihatsu removes the covers in Indonesia.
