Rolls-Royce has revealed its latest Black Badge series, applying the more youthful treatment to the Dawn convertible.

Joining the Ghost and Wraith Black Badge, the Dawn features a similar line of enhancements over the regular Rolls-Royce range, including a more powerful twin turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine with an extra 22kW and 20Nm, bringing outputs up to 442kW and 840Nm.

Other changes include a remapped ZF eight-speed automatic designed to increase responsiveness without diminishing the Dawn’s cosseting comfort.

Bigger brakes and a quicker steering rack have also been added for greater control at speed.

“Standing as a truly bespoke response to the desires of a new breed of entrepreneur, Black Badge has already distinctly amplified the characters of Ghost and Wraith motor cars, placing them into the consciousness of those that seek a commanding presence in the objects they commission," Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Mueller-Otvos said.

“Overwhelming demand from new patrons of luxury tells us the time is now right to apply this assertive, confident and powerful attitude to Dawn and open this truly transformative presence to the world.”

As with the other members of the Black Badge family the first show car is presented in a black exterior finish - in this case a multi-layered, hand-polished solid black paint finish, with the the brand’s trademark Pantheon grille colour-coded to match.

Other Black Badge touches include a black chrome Spirit of Ecstasy bonnet mascot, an inverted colour-scheme for the Double-R logo, and a roof available only in black canvas.

Additional features applied to the Goodwood show car include a rear deck clad in black leather, and interior panelling in carbon fibre, inlaid with aircraft-grade aluminum threads and hand polished to a mirror finish, and upholstery trimmed in black leather with mandarin highlights.

While the show car has been tailored to show the Dawn Black Badge’s more sinister side, as with the rest of the Rolls-Royce range a full gamut of customisation options is available from the Rolls-Royce Bespoke individual design program.
