Jaguar has added the most powerful of its new Ingenium range of petrol engines with the 221kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, as seen in the new entry-level F-Type coupe and roadster, added across a wider range of models

The announcement comes less than a fortnight after Jaguar’s sister-company, Land Rover, announced a 213kW version of the Ingenium range for the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque.

The new engine will be introduced across the medium XE, large XF, and F-Pace SUV model lines and as with the slightly less powerful Land Rover application maximum torque for all Jaguar models fitted with the engine is 400Nm.

In the smallest XE, Jaguar promises a 0-100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds and fuel consumption of 6.7 l/100km, the larger XF completes the same sprint in 5.9 seconds with fuel usage of 6.8 l/100km, while the F-Pace takes 6.0 seconds for the 0-100 km/h run and uses an official 7.7 l/100km.

All models fitted with the new engine are matched to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, with the XE and XF offered overseas with the option of rear or all wheel drive although Australian-bound cars will stick with rear wheel drive only.

Jaguar will also add a 147kW version of the Ingenium petrol engine for XE and XF, plus a 184kW petrol and 177kW diesel variant across all three model lines.

The new Ingenium-powered models are expected to arrive in Australia before the end of 2017, bringing with them a range of 2018 model year updates that include a gesture-controlled bootlid for XE and XF, Jaguar Configurable Dynamics drive mode control, plus forward Vehicle Guidance and Forward Traffic Detection safety technology.

Jaguar will reveal pricing and specifications for the updated range closer to launch.
