Jaguar has confirmed that a third SUV line will be added to its roster in the form of a new E-Pace model, arriving to support the existing F-Pace and coming electric I-Pace.

Along with the official confirmation, Jaguar has shown the first images of the E-Pace, revealing a styling direction that adheres closely to the Jaguar SUV design themes established by the F-Pace and I-Pace.

Full technical details are still to be announced, but Jaguar has confirmed that its Ingenium range of petrol and diesel engines will power the new model. At present the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol Ingenium engine recently announced for the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque offers either 177kW/340Nm or 213kW/400Nm level of tune, which should suit the sporty character of the E-Pace.

"The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-Pace stands out," Jaguar design director, Ian Callum said. "Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think the E-Pace will do just that, albeit with its own individual character."

Jaguar Australia has confirmed a local arrival for the E-Pace with pricing set to start from under $50,000 before on-road costs, making it cheaper than Jaguar’s current entry-level XE sedan which starts at just over $60,000. Jaguars most affordable F-Pace, the 20d Prestige starts from $75,860.

The E-Pace will be given a full reveal on July 13 with further details to be confirmed at that time.
