Audi has issued a recall in Australia this week targeting three of its passenger models.

The trio includes the A4, A5 and A6 fitted with the 2.0 litre four-cylinder TFSI petrol engine, built from eary 2011 to the end of last year.

The recall concerns the vehicle's cooling system, as the water pump may have been gradually blocked over the years by small particles.

In extreme cases, a water pump starved of coolant may cause a fire.

The recall process will include an inspection of the pump and an update to the vehicle's software.

Audi will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer or phone Audi Australia on 1800 502 834.
