Skoda has announced the price and features for the petrol-powered version of its Kodiaq seven-seat SUV, set to go on sale in Australia from May.

From launch, a single 132TSI variant will be available in Australian showrooms, starting at $42,990 plus on road costs.

As Skoda’s first family SUV, the Kodiaq will arrive in Australia with seven seats standard, plus all-wheel drive, giving it a specification boost compared to some competitors, although its exterior dimensions fall somewhere between the medium SUV and large SUV classes.

The Kodiaq’s 132TSI engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol unit, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Claimed fuel use for the Kodiaq is 7.6L/100km.

The single model range will be expanded later in the year with the introduction of the 140TDI model powered by a version of the 140kW/400Nm 2.0-litre turbo diesel as used in the Superb range.

Australian-bound Kodiaq models will arrive with safety features including autonomous emergency braking, multi-collision braking and auto-tensioning seatbelts as standard.

Comfort and convenience spec will include adaptive cruise control, keyless entry and start, adaptive LED headlights, electric park brake, powered tailgate, rear sunshades and auto folding side mirrors, all standard.

Skoda’s Simply Clever philosophy also includes umbrellas embedded in the front doors, an LED torch in the cargo area, and fold-away door edge protectors to shield against parking lot bumps.

Inside, the Kodiaq will feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, and voice commands, as well as Alcantara and leather trimmed upholstery, LED interior lighting, and a leather trimmed steering wheel.

Buyers will have a choice of three equipment packages with which to extend the Kodiaq’s features list, similar to those available on the Superb.

The $2500 Tech pack adds adaptive damper control, 10-speaker Canton premium audio, and auto parking assist with brake functions.

The Luxury pack, for $4900, adds front seat heating and ventilation, power adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, perforated leather seat trim in black or beige, surround view camera, anti-dazzle side mirrors, rear traffic cross alert, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and traffic jam assist.

A Launch pack will also be offered on the first Kodaiq’s sold locally which adds the features from the Tech pack as well as 19-inch dark grey alloy wheels. The Launch pack also incorporates several elements of the Luxury pack such as lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, traffic jam assist, rear traffic alert, surround view camera and anti-dazzle side mirrors for $5900

As with the rest of the Skoda range the Kodiaq is covered by a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty with roadside assist.
