Mercedes-Benz has recalled its large E-Class range in Australia this week, due to a potential problem with a wiring loom.

The carmaker says the loom which governs the windscreen wiper operation may have been routed incorrectly during construction.

As the wipers operate when required, the wiring loom may be damaged by the moving wiper arms.

Should this occur, an eventual failure of the wiper system could occur, potentially causing a hazard for the vehicle occupants and other road users during inclement weather.

The affected models were sold in Australia between April and August last year.

In November last year, the previous-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class was recalled for a potential problem with the fuel pump module.

Mercedes-Benz will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer or phone Mercedes-Benz Australia on 03 9566 9266.
