As TMR reported back in October, SUVs feature in the six all-new models to be launched by Citroen’s prestige brand DS by 2020.

Already slated for launch at the Geneva Motor Show in a couple of weeks is the mid-size DS 3.

Now we have the first pics of a larger model called the DS 7 Crossback which was snapped testing on public roads and shared on enthusiast site Citronfeng.

While disguised prototypes have been seen before, this is the first appearance of a production version.

Citroen fans might be flummoxed by the new looks. The DS 7 Crossback is almost conventional in appearance and the crisp front-end with angular LED headlights, curved LED DRLs and separate fog-lights is a noticeable departure from the company’s current styling.

Also likely to launch at Geneva, the DS 7 Crossback will ride on PSA’s EMP2 platform and, as well as the new 97kW 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a range-topping 180kW petrol engine, expect a DS-first in the form of a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Stay tuned to TMR for more.
