Along with refreshed front and rear styling the model range has grown from two models to three, with a new mid-tier LT variant joining the previous entry-level LS and range-topping LTZ.
Pricing for the LS in unchanged, starting from $23,990 before on-road costs for the five-speed manual and $26,490 when equipped with a six-speed automatic.
The changes run a little deeper than that too with the LS powered by a carry-over 1.8-litre petrol engine from the previous Trax LS, but automatic models moving to a turbocharged 1.4 litre petrol previously reserved for the LTZ
1.8 litre models produce 103kW and 175Nm while the 1.4-litre turbo paired with the automatic produces the same 103kW but a more punchy 200Nm. Despite the SUV styling the Trax range is only available with front wheel drive.
Standard equipment for the LS includes daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear park assist, rear view camera, leather steering wheel and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The auto variant also gains rear disc brakes, with drum brakes on the rear of the manual.
The mid-grade LT is priced at $28,890, and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, fog lamps, keyless entry and push button start, driver’s armrest, additional exterior chrome trim, and digital radio over the base LS.
The range-topping Trax LTZ (pictured) comes with Sportec leatherette-trimmed seats, heated front seats, rain sensing wipers, LED taillights, indicators on the side mirrors, 3.5-inch digital instrument display, blindspot alert and rear cross traffic alert.
Both the LT and LTZ have the same engine and transmission set up as the automatic LS.
All Trax models feature a 7.0-inch colour touchscreen as part of a redesigned interior that swaps out the multitude of storage bins in the previous model for a more integrated dash design. The LTZ also features an extra storage tray beneath the passenger’s seat.
All Trax variants features six airbags, electronic stability and traction control, ABS brakes with electronic brake assist, collapsible pedal release system, two rear ISOFIX child seat mounting points, and front pretensioning seatbelts.
