The UK arm of Mercedes-Benz has started an official reservation program for the new X-Class pickup range almost a year out from the new model’s expected 2018 launch.

British owners looking to be amongst the first to get their hands on the new Benz ute can register their interest via a dedicated web portal. For refundable reservation fee of £1000 ($1640) potential owners can ensure they are given the first opportunity to order a new X-Class.

“Many customers we have spoken to have a strong desire to be amongst the first to own the new X-Class, which is incredible considering that it hasn’t been unveiled yet.” Steve Bridge, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Vans UK, said.

Mercedes-Benz first showed a pair of X-Class concepts in October 2016 demonstrating how the Nissan Navara-based dual cab will fit both work and prestige applications.

Despite its humble underpinnings Mercedes-Benz is expected to offer unique engines and transmissions, an internally developed four wheel drive system, and significant suspension changes as well as unique exterior and interior styling.

UPDATE: Mercedes-Benz Vans corporate communications manager, Blake Vincent, has told TMR that Australian dealers have already started taking registrations of interest with an official registration program similar to that of the UK under consideration.

Mr Vincent descrivbed that level of interest in the X-Class as significant, with a growing number of eqnuiries for Mercedes-Benz first ever dual-cab ute.
