Jaguar has revealed its updated F-Type sports car range which includes new models and new technology and goes on sale globally in the first quarter of 2017.

The refreshed range features a new model variant, the F-Type R-Dynamic, which will sit between the current S and R models.

The British car maker has further padded out its range with the addition of a one-year-only 400 Sport variant which will slide in below the R but above the new R-Dynamic variant.

These two new model grades take the total F-Type variants available up to 28, rivalling the massive Porsche 911 range.

The F-Type R-Dynamic will be offered with a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 engine in two levels of tune that produce 250kW/450Nm and 280kW/460Nm.

The R-Dynamic will be available in both coupe and convertible body styles and with the choice of an eight-speed auto or six-speed manual with the power sent to the rear wheels.

There is also an all-wheel drive option for the 280kW variant when paired with the auto transmission.

Gloss black finishes are applied to the front splitter, bonnet vents, side sills, rear diffuser and the bumper's aperture bezels help differentiate the R-Dynamic models from the rest of the range, along with 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The other edition to the F-Type's lineup is the one-model-year-only 400 Sport which is powered by the same supercharged 3.0-litre V6 but power has been upped to 294kW. It also features uprated braking systems, configurable dynamics and 20-inch dark grey alloy wheels.

Available in both coupe and convertible guise the 400 Sport is matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to either the rear wheels or all four wheels depending on specification.

Yellow and dark grey 400 Sport badges also bedeck the front splitter and the rear of the F-Type 400 Sport variants along with interior branding on the centre console, steering wheel, tread plates and embroidered headrests. Yellow contrast stitching is used extensively throughout the cabin.

Jaguar's Touch Pro infotainment system is now available in all of is 28 model variants, which is accessed through a tablet-style screen and includes functions such as navigation and real-time traffic updates.

In collaboration with GoPro, Jaguar has also developed an app that pairs with your camera and adds vehicle data such as speed, throttle position, gear selection, G-force and braking force to real time video for those partial to a track day.

And thankfully Jaguar has left the exterior of the head-turning F-Type mainly untouched, with only minor touches such as model specific bumpers and new LED headlights the only additions.

Updated local prices will available closer to the car's Australian launch.
