Travellers to Bathurst in New South Wales over the next eight weeks can expect to see the city’s famous Mount Panorama circuit - twice.

The Mountain once known as ‘Bald Hills’ and now also dubbed ‘Wahluu’ will be present, as always, with its glorious 6.2km ribbon of tarmac that has made it the stuff of legend the world over.

But, for a short time, Mt Panorama can also be viewed in LEGO form, thanks to a new exhibit at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG).

Did you know there are only 14 certified LEGO professionals in the world, and of those, only one is in the Southern Hemisphere? Neither did we…

With that in mind, BRAG called on LEGO professional Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught to construct two models.

The first concentrates on the top section of The Mountain, telling the story of Mt Panorama’s history and its evolution from a scenic drive into a world-renowned racing circuit.

The second shows Pit Straight, depicting (among other things) the 1-2 finish for the Holden Dealer Team at the Bathurst 1000 of 1984.

Being a LEGO model, there’s plenty of detail for race fans - and everyone else.

Motorsport memories include Kevin Bartlett’s race-ending roll from 1982 - the incident that sparked the joke about Bartlett transforming the Channel 9 Chevrolet Camaro into the Channel 6 Camaro.

Those with sharp eyes will also notice another racer on its roof, as the model demonstrates the aftermath of Bill Brown’s 1971 rollover in his Ford Falcon GTHO.

To see the rest, you’ll just have to check the exhibit out for yourself.

While you’re there, any children you may bring along are encouraged to build their own LEGO masterpieces, provided they are supervised by an adult. Who knows, perhaps you have a future LEGO Professional kicking the back of your car seat..?

The exhibit is on show at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery from now until January 29. Entry costs $5 per child/adult per day to ‘play’, with wristbands available at the Gallery desk.

Tell ‘em The Motor Report sent ‘ya.
