The iconic Italian sports car brand showcased its GTC4 Lusso T in Sydney today, just months after its world premiere at the Paris motor show in September and ahead of first local deliveries in mid 2017.

The sleek four-seat coupe is the first Ferrari

model to offer two different engine and drivetrain options within the same body style. The T denotes this is the turbo charged V8 model that sits under the flagship V12 variant, which is exclusively offered with an all- egged drive transmission whereas the T has a more conventional rear-wheel drive set-up - although it features rear-wheel steering to improve high speed stability and its overall cornering ability.

The V8 is the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo unit used in the California T convertible and mid-engines 488 models, producing 449kW of power and 760Nm of torque - which is enough to slingshot it from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds while consuming a claimed average of 11.6L/100km.

By comparison, the 6.3-litre V12 generates more power - at 507kW - but less torque - 697Nm - and higher in the rev range. The all-paw grip advantage helps propel it to triple figures just a shade faster in 3.4 seconds but the larger capacity increases its fuel consumption.

The GTC4 Lusso T is officially on-sale now with a starting price of $503,888 (plus on-road costs), placing it neatly between the California T and V12 GTC4Lusso, which cost $409,880 and $578,888 respectively.

Ferrari Australasia boss Herbert Appleroth told Drive the GTC4Lusso will open up a new vein of customers for the brand, appealing to those wealthy connoisseurs that may need to entertain more than one other passenger on a regular basis and may have previously only considered alternatives such as the Bentley Continental GT or Rolls-Royce Wraith.

He also conceded the GTC4Lusso concept - in either variant - is the closest Ferrari will come to offering a rival to the burgeoning list of uber-luxury SUVs entering the market, like the Bentley Bentayga and upcoming Lamborghini Urus.

It is set to build on significant growth experienced by Ferrari locally over the last 12 months, which has seen Australia lead the world in attracting a greater proportion of new customers to the brand as well as more female owners.
